Meow
Kiki is a one of a kind clothing line run entirely by indie fashion designer
Heather Cummings. Heather started Meow Kiki on Ebay in 2004, putting her designs
up for bid to people all over the world. Not only did she make the clothes but
she modeled them as well as took her own photographs. In 2007, Heather was
recognized and featured in Cosmogirl! Magazine as an “aspiring fashion
designer.”Heather was born in Los Angeles, California and spent her childhood watching MTV with her older brother, dressing up like Paula Abdul and dancing around in her favorite white cowboy boots, glittery animal print shirts and different colored socks (like Punky Brewster, her idol at the time). Heather’s aunts would dress her up as different tv stars and every day at school, teachers couldn’t wait to see what she was wearing. In 1993, Heather relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As Heather grew up, she became well known for her eccentric looks. Every year before school started, she would change her look (like Madonna, another one of her idols). At age 16, she accidentally discovered handmade clothing (known as “diy”- do it yourself) on Ebay while searching for vintage clothes. This was the start of Heather's passion for fashion design. As soon as Heather turned 18 in 2004, she took her brand-new debit card and signed up for a selling account on Ebay. She started off selling vintage clothes, and later that year when she bought her first sewing machine, started putting her one-of-a-kind wares up for bids. In 2008, Heather moved to Etsy, a handmade selling website. Heather prides herself on making one-of-a-kind designs that are total show-stoppers. Keep watching because she won’t be going away anytime soon. -L.C. |
